Royal Purple and Old Gold Heritage Rooted in November 1911
Since undergraduate juniors Edgar Amos Love, Oscar James Cooper, and Frank Coleman joined faculty advisor Dr. Ernest Everett Just inside Howard University’s Thirkield Hall on November 17, 1911, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. has stood as the first National Pan-Hellenic Council fraternity founded at a Historically Black College or University. The Polo Ralph Lauren Omega Psi Phi Purple Hoodie honors that century-plus brotherhood through a rich royal purple and old-gold visual layout. Across the upper chest, arched royal purple collegiate block letters bordered in old-gold spell out OMEGA PSI PHI® below the left-chest heraldic fraternity crest—complete with its emerald-green laurel wreath, silver knight helmet over crossed lances, and purple-and-gold ΩΨΦ shield. Flanking the torso, split block numerals read 19 on the right upper sleeve and 11 on the left upper sleeve directly above double horizontal old-gold athletic stripes.
Varsity Bear Detailing and All-Over Sublimated Pullover Comfort
At the center of the chest stands the dressed Teddy Bear mascot, blending classic collegiate prep with chapter regalia. Wearing dark black sunglasses over a white collared shirt and purple tie, the bear sports a royal purple zip-up varsity bomber jacket detailed with gold-and-purple striped ribbing, gold ΩΨΦ letters on the left chest, and Ω symbols on both sleeves, paired with tan cargo pants and purple-and-gold low-top sneakers. Below the mascot, the front kangaroo pouch pocket is framed by diagonal old-gold welt trim and printed with POLO BEAR by RALPH LAUREN in crisp white serif capitals above a gold cursive — Ralph Lauren — signature script and a golden polo rider emblem at the lower right corner.

Constructed from ultra-soft polyester that resists wrinkles and shrinkage across autumn, winter, and spring wear, this standard unisex pullover balances warmth with a clean drape from XS through 5XL. A double-lined hood with a contrasting old-gold interior, gold-toned metal grommets, and purple drawcords tipped with metallic gold aglets pairs with old-gold shoulder seam piping and ribbed cuffs and hem. Because the entire garment is produced using full-coverage all-over dye-sublimation printing, the royal purple saturation, heraldic shield, and varsity bear artwork bond directly into the fabric fibers so the surface remains breathable without cracking, fading, or peeling after cold gentle machine washes. Brothers and alumni building a coordinated chapter wardrobe for Founders’ Day or homecoming weekends can also pair this pullover with the Omega Psi Phi Crewneck Sweater for indoor gatherings.
